Stones in his
Pockets
2 -
5 May 2007
The ITG are pleased to welcome
Tir Na Theatre to Brussels in Spring 2007 to perform the award winning play
Stones in his Pockets.
The Play
Jake and Charlie are thirty-somethings who meet when working as extras on a
big American movie being shot in Ireland. Charlie's video shop in
Ballycastle has gone bankrupt and Jake has returned to Kerry after a futile
few years in the US. The movie is a wonderful break from worrying about
their futures, until the harsh realities of rural life break through.
The Company
Tir Na Theatre, the exciting new startup theatre company founded by Colin
Hamell, produces quality contemporary works with a focus on Irish
playwrights. Tir Na is a theatre without a permanent home, a travelling
venue whose productions draw upon a wealth of talented actors, writers,
producers, and directors, many of whom hail from the American Irish theatre
scene.
Tir Na Theatre´s
current production, Marie Jones´s Stones in His Pockets, stars Hamell
and Derry Woodhouse. Hamell and Woodhouse have shared the stage in
such productions as Ronan Noone´s Lepers of Baile Baiste, produced by
Boston´s Sugan Theatre Company and Conor MacPherson´s The Weir,
produced by The Gloucester Stage Company. Company member Ronan Noone´s
latest play, The Atheist, is currently in production off-Broadway, and stars
Chris Pine. George C. Heslin, artistic director of Origin Theatre Company in
New York City, director of Tir Na´s production of Stones, also performed in
the Broadway tour of that play throughout the United States.
Performances: 2-5 May 2007 in the
